03/21/16 at 12:25There is a somewhat rote feeling to several of the plot points and structural problems being ticked off by Whedon (a pretty foreseeable late shifting of allegiances, a tendency to try to hit action sequences at pre-allotted periods), and with this type of surfeit of characters to devote display time to, the middle section of the film occasionally feels frayed, offering a succession of vignettes.
